Change Starts Here and Now
through The Process of Exploring Our Emotions
Life is full of ups and downs. We face challenges everyday and frequently feel overwhelmed by our emotions. When we are hitting rock bottom, it is very difficult to see the light at the end of tunnel.
We have many wounds inside us that need to be healed from the past. Although it seems painful to look at those wounds, they can be healed by exploring our inner world and emotions.
I would like to walk with you on your journey to explore your inner world and emotions and would like to help you feel that you are not alone, and that there is hope. This can help you improve your emotional and mental wellbeing.
Sun Jin (Jinny) Kim MSW, RSW
I am a clinical social worker and a registered member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers.
I completed my Masters Degree of Social Work (MSW) at the University of Toronto and specialized in Mental Health. Upon completion of my MSW, I have been participating in various professional learning opportunities to develop and grow my clinical skills to better support and meet the needs of my clients.
Although Emotion Focused Therapy has been my primary approach, my training and experiences in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Treatment, and Psychodynamic Therapy have been integrated into my practice to meet each client’s needs.
I have extensive experience in working with individuals with mood and anxiety disorders, relationship, parenting issues and trauma. I completed my clinical counselling training as an intern at the Family Medicine Teaching Unit at North York General Hospital, the Mood and Anxiety Clinic at Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH), the Mental Health Adult Outpatient Clinic as well as, Assertive Community Treatment Team (ACTT) at Scarborough General Hospital.
Therapy is all about making sense of yourself. It is not only about making positive changes in your life but also making changes inside of you by exploring and expressing your emotions and need, and trusting in the process.
A 30 minute in person consultation, free of charge is provided if you would like to meet with me to find out how I might be able to help you and/or what therapy might look like.
Therapy is currently only offered in-person at my office at 540 Mt. Pleasant Rd. in Toronto.
